Video: Kevin Store provides update to community during Wake-Up Keweenaw

March 12, 2024 | By Emilie Jacques

Wake-up Keweenaw is intended to bring relevant and exciting community, economic and business developments in the Keweenaw Peninsula to community members. Copper Shores Community Health Foundation President/CEO Kevin Store was given the opportunity to update the community on the state of the foundation, major plans moving forward and highlighting the successes of new programming. This video goes through many of the highlights from his early-morning speech that took place at The Bonfire in Houghton.

Copper Shores sees the importance of having community support in achieving the foundation's goals, and aims to keep community members informed and involved whenever possible. Without collective support, Copper Shores would not be able to foster a healthy community.

“I’m really proud of the steps we’ve taken to ensure the perpetual benefit of the community,” said Store. “We are going to grow the foundation to be a more substantial asset for this community so we can do more.”

All of these changes have been made in an effort to improve the health of Michigan’s Copper Country. Store included overviews of Meals on Wheels, Victim Support, Bridges, and more direct-to-community programming, a look at how this affects granting and scholarship opportunities, and a peak into our big-picture vision for a more healthful tomorrow, with an invitation to get involved in what’s happening moving forward.

As Copper Shores grows, community members can expect to see more money brought back in, programming increased to support more people and the implementation of a wellness campus, including recreational facilities and community learning centers.

Wake-Up Keweenaw is a regular event hosted by the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce. Keep up with all things Copper Shores by subscribing to our email newsletter and be sure to check out our YouTube channel for more great videos highlighting the work we do.
