Copper Shores Victim Support introduces the Wellness Journey Support Group
February 4, 2025 | By Emilie Jacques
Copper Shores Victim Support is now offering the Wellness Journey Support Group, open to those who are seeking growth and healing after experiencing trauma or secondary trauma. The Wellness Journey Support Group will meet for 22 weeks, alternating between a self-assessment workbook and Wellness Nights, which are open for fellow community members to attend. The first meeting is on Monday, February 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
“We can’t replace a therapist, but some people are looking for something that is supplemental and intentional,” said Rachel Lamppa, Copper Shores victim advocate. “We want to give people the time, space and tools to intentionally focus on their journeys.”
The self-assessment workbook is called “The Wellness Compass: Workbook for Adults,” by Holly Hughes Stoner, LMFT and D. Scott Stoner, LMFT. This book provides techniques and tools for self-reflection and goal setting on one’s wellness journey. It is a self-lead resource that offers a step-by-step guide for adults who are feeling inspired in their journey of growth and change, and are looking for support and guidance as they seek greater wellness and balance in eight areas of well-being.
Wellness Nights will be led by local health professionals, covering a variety of wellness topics like somatic meditation, sound baths, trauma-informed yoga, nutrition, art therapy, biofield tuning, tapping and more. These hands-on activities are designed to give people tangible strategies to easily integrate into their wellness journeys. Guided by community volunteers with expertise in each area, Wellness Nights provide an opportunity to practice the tools and techniques from “The Wellness Compass” in a supportive environment.
