Volunteers Wanted for Mental Health Listening Tour

August 8, 2023 | By Emilie Jacques

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is going on a listening tour to discuss the topic of mental health. The listening tour is the community’s chance to share their opinions and give us feedback as we develop programming. Small group sessions will be held in Calumet, Houghton, Ontonagon and Baraga.

Listening Tour Objectives

  1. To explore attitudes, opinions, and perceptions related to mental health and wellbeing in the Baraga, Houghton, Ontonagon, and Keweenaw county communities.
  2. To gain insights onto the meaning and understanding of terms such as mental, behavioral, social, treatment, counseling and therapy.
  3. To identify barriers within the community that hinder individuals from living life to their fullest potential.

What to Expect

  • No more than 90 minutes of your time
  • Light refreshments will be provided
  • Open discussion about mental health and wellbeing
  • $25 Keweenaw Cash for each participant

Who Should Participate

We are looking for people who call Michigan's Copper Country home. People who want to positively influence the future of mental health and wellbeing opportunities. We are not looking for mental health professionals to participate in these sessions.

If you’re interested in participating, email marketing@coppershores.org as soon as possible for information on when and where the sessions will be held.
