Portage Health Foundation has welcomed a new Business Manager to the organization, Tyler Kinnunen. This new position oversees everything financial that goes through the office; payroll, audits, billing, invoices, etc.
"I chose to move to the PHF as a way to become more involved in our nonprofit communities and the excellent work that they do," Kinnunen said. "I knew this organization was special and they had opened my eyes to the nonprofit sector. I was able to work closely with the Portage Health Foundation in my previous role with the Copper Country ISD, during the grant writing, disbursement and final reports.
Portage Health Foundation is in the process of merging with Copper Country Senior Meals and Tyler has been a main contact and contributor to make sure the merge works smoothly. His main goal for his first year on the job is “to make sure the transition for Senior Meals and Portage Health Foundation is seamless and smooth. I don’t want to make things stressful for the organizations or for the people who work there," he said.
To Kinnunen, his role at PHF is more than just finances.
“I'm excited to see how this organization will change our community for the better in the long run," Kinnunen said. "I hope that this area will see a positive impact on our commitment to improving the mental health and physical wellbeing of all members in our community. I've found PHF to be an exhilarating work environment that encourages collaboration and motivates us to perform at our best both in the office and working with the community.”
