This year’s #GivingTuesday campaign hosted by Copper Shores Community Health Foundation has a record number of participants with 30 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations participating, including seven new participants.
Donations are now being accepted at coppershores.org/givingtuesday.

To be eligible, an organization must be a charitable nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) IRS determination, provide their certified financial audit and/or 990, must be current with their tax status and have their License to Solicit, must not be a religious or educational institution, have a mission related to Copper Shores’ Strategic Goals and Objectives or raise funds for a specific project that relates to those pillars and the organization must be domiciled in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw or Ontonagon counties. Applications were accepted from September 8 until October 9.
In addition to the 30 nonprofit organizations, Copper Shores will also be fundraising for its own programming including Outreach & Education, Meals on Wheels, Bridges and Victim Support. These programs will not be eligible for the match.
Donations will be accepted starting next week. They can be made online at coppershores.org/givingtuesday, or a check can be mailed or dropped off at the Copper Shores downtown Hancock office. Checks must be written to Copper Shores Community Health Foundation with a note on which organization the check is designated for. Copper Shores will once again have a match to incentivize donors to put their money where their heart is by supporting our local nonprofit organizations.
In total this campaign has put more than $2.7 million into nonprofits in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties. This is the seventh year Copper Shores has hosted this event, which takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving - November 28 this year.
