Recreation Funding Available Through KCF Grant

The Keweenaw Community Foundation has opened its fall grant applications, including the Copper Shores Community Wellness and Outdoor Recreation Fund, which offers a total of $40,000 in grant funding.

KCF Fall grant 1x1The Keweenaw Community Foundation is dedicated to creating a thriving community by connecting the needs of the community with resources to collaboratively improve the quality of life in the Keweenaw. KCF's fall grants are now open for applications, partnering with multiple local organizations and funding impactful projects.

Nonprofit organizations that focus on community health and providing opportunities for outdoor recreation are encouraged to apply. The Copper Shores Wellness and Outdoor Recreation Fund aims to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life in the Copper Country.

Keweenaw Community Foundation has been offering this program for many years, supporting a variety of projects each year. The grant supported The John Wheeler Memorial Fund with $15,000 for the expansion of John’s Outdoor Learning Center in 2018, Eagle Harbor Township was awarded $14,400 for the Eagle Harbor Township Sixth Street Trail in 2019 and Allouez Township was awarded $10,000 to improve the Mohawk and Fulton Community Parks.These are three of many examples of how this funding has been used in the past.
