Community Recreational Facilities and Resources topic of $120,000 grant opportunity through Portage Health Foundation

Portage Health Foundation has released a request for proposals (RFP) focusing on Community Recreational Facilities and Resources. Up to $120,000 is available. Grant applications are due March 22, 2021.
Through three years this RFP has led to 16 grants totaling $279,500 throughout Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties. That included $79,500 last year for projects in Hancock, Eagle Harbor, Chassell and Calumet. In previous years projects have included Gratiot River Park in Keweenaw County, Point Abbaye Park in Baraga County, Houghton Skate Park, the installation of a rope tow in Greenland Township, trail upgrades at Swedetown Trails and Copper Harbor Trails, and handicap-focused improvements at the Drill House in Calumet Township and public beach in Ontonagon.
The foundation expects to award up to $120,000. There is no minimum or maximum grant amount. An optional letter of inquiry is due February 12, grants applications are due March 22 and grant awards are expected to be announced April 23.
This RFP is designed to address the foundation’s strategic goal and objective of improving physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and wellbeing. All application information, letter of inquiry forms and a detailed RFP can be found at phfgive.org/grants.
