Pasty Partnership with Krupp’s

May 17, 2024 | By Emilie Jacques

Copper Shores Meals on Wheels has been making connections with local producers, farmers and restaurants, like Krupp’s Mini Mart in Twin Lakes. Krupp’s makes one of the Upper Peninsula’s most well known and celebrated foods, the pasty, and they donated hundreds to Meals on Wheels for all of the seniors.

2024-05-13-CopperShores-Facebook-Insta-KruppsMinimartPastyDonations-OL-1x1On top of being a delightful treat for seniors in Houghton and Keweenaw County, working with Krupp’s has helped Meals on Wheels work toward their goal of feeding seniors locally grown and produced food as often as possible.

When looking to give back to the community, Krupp’s owners Tina and Troy Povich heard about Meals on Wheels and connected to plan the meals. This was no small task. To help pull the gift together, Krupp’s employees eagerly donated their time. With Krupp’s generosity, many seniors who wouldn't have otherwise been able to leave the house or drive far distances were able to enjoy a longtime favorite of the Copper Country.

As our local Meals on Wheels program grows in both size and recognition, staff has been grateful for each and every community partnership.  They also want to make sure other restaurants and food producers in the Copper Country, and beyond, know that this opportunity is available! If you would like to partner with Meals on Wheels, please email mealsonwheels@coppershores.org and we’ll figure out a way to work with you!
