HeadsUP: A day of food, fun and fitness for middle schoolers
July 8, 2024 | By Emilie Jacques
In collaboration with UP Health System - Portage, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation will be hosting HeadsUP, an exciting day of food, fun and fitness designed specifically for students entering 6th-8th grade. HeadsUp takes place on Tuesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Quincy Green in Hancock.
Copper Shores Community Health Educator Meghan Jaszczak, RD, is joining UP Health System - Portage Community Health Coordinator Angela Luskin to lead healthful, engaging activities and games designed to inspire and educate young minds. HeadsUP has something for everyone. Participants can expect a diverse array of activities centered around healthy eating, movement, mindfulness, mental well being and art.
Space is limited, so parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children early and secure a spot online. There is no cost to attendees, and the event is open to students from any school system, including home schooled students. Lunch will be provided for free by Copper Shores Meals on Wheels, ensuring all participants are fueled for a day of active learning.
All young minds are encouraged to learn and build healthy habits. Throughout the day, participants will gain practical skills and insights into fostering healthy habits through hands-on activities, including games, arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, and more.
