December 2024 Menu Highlight

Copper Shores Meals on Wheels is proud to finish the year strong, providing at least one locally sourced ingredient in every meal, for the fifth month in a row! The kitchen team has been working diligently all summer and fall to make preparations for the end of the growing season. Even as the growing season comes to a close, Meals on Wheels is ready to provide local produce and protein, throughout the coming winter months.
With new kitchen equipment purchased using the $1.28 million LFPA grant Meals on Wheels received, the kitchen team has been processing ingredients more efficiently as they come in, freezing them at their peak freshness and locking in the nutritional value for later.
Meals on Wheels is getting into the holiday spirit, delivering heart warming and cozy meals throughout December. Check out a few of these sure-to-be favorites!
- Wednesday, December 4 - Creamy mushroom & pork dinner with rice, vegetables and a biscuit
- Tuesday, December 10 - Beef tips & noodles with vegetables and cottage cheese
- Wednesday, December 18 - Pannukakku, bacon, potatoes and blueberry crumble
- Friday, December 20 - Ham dinner with sweet potatoes, vegetables and fresh fruit
- Monday, December 23 - Roasted pork with vegetables, quinoa and strawberry shortcake
Meals on Wheels is also celebrating the holiday season by purchasing Christmas dinner ingredients for Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly, including multiple turkeys that will be prepared and roasted at the Meals on Wheels kitchen.
The Meals on Wheels team is excited to continue serving seniors fresh food, local ingredients, and homemade recipes throughout the winter and into 2025. To support the work being done by Meals on Wheels, please donate through #GiveCopperCountry by GivingTuesday, December 3.
