Copper Shores welcomes Director of Finance, Justin Fletcher
February 13, 2025 | By Emilie Jacques
Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is excited to welcome Justin Fletcher as the new Director of Finance. Fletcher began his role in January of 2025, bringing a broad range of expertise and experience to the administrative team at Copper Shores.
Fletcher was born in Michigan but spent the majority of his youth in Texas. After moving back to Michigan and graduating high school, Fletcher received his associate’s degree from Grand Rapids Community College. He then moved to New York City, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Finance from Pace University. Continuing his educational pursuits, Fletcher moved to Texas where he went on to earn his Master’s in Behavioral Economics from St. Edward's University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
During his time in Texas, Fletcher worked for the City of Austin and the State of Texas. As the City of Austin financial manager of the Park and Recreation, Fleet and Aviation departments, Fletcher helped ensure the upkeep of public city spaces, managed more than 7,500 city vehicles and oversaw financial operations at the airport. After more than 11 years working for the city of Austin, Fletcher began working for the State of Texas, managing the finances of every Texas crime laboratory.
“I have a diverse background in project management, strategic planning and finance,” said Fletcher. “Working for the City of Austin gave me the opportunity to manage and provide leadership, while focusing on equity and sustainability. This included opportunities to build and maintain relationships with public and private partnerships, independent family-owned businesses and nonprofits.”
Fletcher moved to the Copper Country in the beginning of 2025 to be closer to family. While preparing for the move and looking for employment opportunities, he came across Copper Shores.
“I was drawn by the amount of services that Copper Shores provides,” said Fletcher. “I did my homework and I really appreciated the foundation’s transparency and upfront approach, which incorporates the community’s needs.”
As he settles in for an unfamiliar winter in the Copper Country, Fletcher looks forward to familiarizing himself with all of the services that Copper Shores provides, making sure those on-the-ground are supported and can continue to do great work.
“It’s great that they take care of employees the way they do,” said Fletcher, who has enjoyed everything Copper Shores has to offer. “I can see that Copper Shores not only externally follows their mission, but internally as well.”
Fletcher looks forward to meeting community members and learning more about the Copper Country - even if he has to brace the cold to do so.
