ASIST in Negaunee, July 23 & 24
May 15, 2024 | By Emilie Jacques
Rescheduled to accommodate more people
In partnership with the West End Health Foundation, Copper Shores Outreach & Education is hosting Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on July 23 and 24, at Great Lakes Recovery Centers in Negaunee, MI. This two day workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, teaching people the skills the help prevent suicide, and how to intervene to help keep someone safe from suicide.
Those who partake in ASIST include both trained professionals and members of the general public. People do not need to have any training in suicide prevention or intervention prior to attending ASIST. With ASIST, people can provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person with thoughts of suicide in ways that meet their individual safety needs, as well as identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it.
This training is open to the public, and provided at no cost thanks to the West End Health Foundation. To register for the training, call (906) 482-9077 ext. 303, or email kmartens@coppershores.org. The deadline to register is July 19.
