March 14, 2023 | By Emilie Jacques

Deadline for nonprofits and governmental units to apply is April 14

Today Portage Health Foundation (PHF) announced the release of the 2023 Small Grants Program Request for Proposals (RFP). PHF expects to award up to $15,000 towards successful proposals under this round of funding. There is no minimum grant amount and the maximum amount awarded per grant under this RFP will be $2,500.

2023-03-09-Small-Grants--Social-Posting---1-OL-Instagram-1x1The grant supports projects that will have an impact on community health and wellness while addressing the systemic health needs and risk factors of the broader community. This call for proposal is designed to offer smaller levels of funding support to meet the needs of our community that focus on health-related events, activities or needs.

To be considered for a small grant, a proposal must identify why the request for funding is needed and how it will enhance access to services, programs, or activities that otherwise would not be possible in the communities of Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon Counties. Additionally, the organization must demonstrate how the grant activities will be sustained outside the grant period.

In 2022, this RFP led to eight projects being funded, including elder programming at the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, a therapy dog at Adams Township schools, park upgrades in Laurium and Hancock, and an outside classroom renovation at Calumet Art Center.

Applications are due on Friday, April 14, 2023. Grants will be awarded in May. Eligibility requirements and RFP details can be found at phfgive.org/grants. Interested parties can reach out to the PHF office by calling (906) 523-5920 or emailing info@phfgive.org
