What does the LOSS Team do?
The postvention services provided cover a wide variety of tasks. Team members are prepared to assist family members in the immediate wake of tragedy through emotional and nutritional support, organizational and cleaning duties, connecting them with resources and advocating for them, working with law enforcement and emergency service personnel, and caring for family members at the scene.
LOSS Team members are there to serve victims, but also act as a liaison between distressed victims and law enforcement, and allow emergency responders to focus on their duties, knowing the surviving victims’ wellbeing is being taken care of.
Volunteer with the LOSS Team
The LOSS Team is currently looking for volunteers from Baraga, Keweenaw, Houghton and Ontonagon counties to be a part of the team.
Because the office is based out of Houghton, it is important to have team members throughout the Copper Country. This helps ensure that death notices are delivered in a timely and respectful manner.
If you would like to volunteer your time to help others in the community, contact Victim Support Program Director Virginia Lambert, vlambert@coppershores.org.
