Start By Believing Day

Did you know that survivors typically reach out to two to three support people before they report to law enforcement? Research suggests that only 5-20% of victims report their sexual assault to law enforcement, and less than half seek medical care or obtain a medical forensic exam.

Our Victim Support team and local law enforcement officers are kicking off Sexual Assault Awareness Month with Start By Believing Day, the first Wednesday of every April. They're taking the pledge to start by believing victims when they come forward to report sexual assault.

Wear teal, the official color of SAAM, to join us in showing your support.

You, too, can start by believing. Take the Pledge.
