Teen Dating Event

The community is invited to an important, free event hosted by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Victim Services & Programs and Copper Shores Victim Support titled "Let's talk about dating!" 

February is Teen Dating Awareness Month, and we invite you to participate in a discussion about safe and healthy dating for yourself or your teen. This event will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ojibwa Senior Center at 208 Main Street in Baraga. Advocates from Copper Shores Victim Support will be present to answer your questions and lead youth informational sessions.

The discussion will cover a range of crucial topics, including:

  • Consent
  • Healthy vs. Unhealthy Dating Behaviors
  • Power and Control in Relationships
  • Technological Abuse
  • Dating Apps and Online Safety
  • Making Safety Plans
  • Resources

There will also be a question and answer session after the presentation. This is a valuable opportunity to learn about maintaining healthy relationships and ensuring safety in dating. This event is open to the entire community, including parents/guardians, teens (middle school and up), community members/professionals who work with youth, etc. Snacks will be provided. Attendees will receive an incentive for attending.
